The Starter Package for ICON-CLM Experiments SPICE version 2.4 is said to be compatible with ICON version 2024.07. There is also a patch available to make it compatible with ICON version 2025.10.
Now, I was wondering about compatibility with ICON 2024.01 and ICON 2026.04, because those are the versions that we can easily get installed on the HPC clusters that are available to us here at our university KU Leuven in Belgium. EasyBuild is the go-to package installer and the ICON versions 2024.01 and 2026.04 happen to be in the EasyBuild repo.
Two questions actually:
- Would SPICE possible be compatible with either of these out of the box, by accident?
- To the developers of SPICE: what is the expected release timeline of new SPICE versions and would any of these be compatible with either of these ICON versions?
I ask the questions before we start to invest to much time in getting the right ICON version installed on our systems.
