I took a look at Spice 2.4 and found that several tuning parameters, the aerosol scheme, and the used ozone data have changed since the 2.3 release. I also found that the supplied gcm2icon test case is set up for Germany-0.11 (from the job settings file). Attempting to update on the Eurocordex domain I am thus wondering for what domain the calibration for Spice 2.4 was done and what it is recommended for.
Is SPICE set up for both Germany and the Eurocordex domain? Or does the new gcm2icon test case mean the setup is recommended for the 0.11° Germany domain?
The spice-2.4 settings are the ones we’ve used for the production of the EURO-CORDEX simulations, i.e. for the EUR-12 domain using the release icon-2024.07 (the tuning will probably change only slightly for later versions, but some namelist parameters are not backward compatible). The Germany011 domain is just used in the standard spice test case sp001 to have a smaller domain which is more handy for technical tests.
